It is vital to have a sound sleep. Lack of sleep gives rise to the problem of insomnia, which might not appear that big in the beginning but as time passes by, it can become problematic. Insomnia can disturb your body balance, thereby giving rise to a multitude of problems. The biological clock changes completely and you tend to feel tired and fatigued. People who do not get sound sleep during nighttime feel irritable. Mood swings are quite high in people suffering from the problem of lack of sleep. They are more susceptible to digestive disorders. They are at a higher risk of heart disease. Lack of sleep has a major connection with emotional problems. The problem of depression is more common among such people. Such people then look for sleep aids such as sleep aid pills to fight against insomnia. Few tips that can ensure good night sleep: Maintain your sleeping schedule: You must have a proper routine of going to bed at night and waking in the morning. Try to keep up this routine even on weekends. Exercise regularly: Do make it a point to workout in the morning for at least half an hour. You can indulge in any kind of physical activity be it walking, jogging or dancing. Choose the activity of your choice so that you derive pleasure when you devote time on it. If you are exercising in the evening, ensure that you exercise 5- 6 hours before going off to sleep. Do not consume large meals during night time: Large meals usually tend to interfere with the digestive system of the body, thereby disturbing the sleeping pattern. You should also not drink too much water in the night, because the more you drink, the more number of times you will have to go to urinate. This leads to imbalance in the body. Reduce your intake of nicotine and caffeine: Caffeine and nicotine have stimulating effect that can prove to be detrimental for health. It takes near about 8 hours for their effect to completely go. It is recommended to minimize consumption of these stimulants and lead a healthy life. Do not take alcohol before going to bed: Alcohol can pose hurdles and prevent you from getting good sleep. People who drink liquor while in bed are likely to wake up in the middle of the night. Don’t take nap during late evenings: Nap can work wonders in enhancing the power of brain. But at the same time, if you take nap during late evenings, it will become tough to sleep at night. Nap should not exceed an hour. Keep away from pills that delay sleep: There are some medicines that can disrupt the sleeping pattern such as medicines for combating blood pressure and asthma. At the same time, it is not recommended to take help of unnatural sleep aids such as sleep aid pills. Relax for a while before going to bed: Don’t just go off to sleep as and when you lie on the bed. It is preferable to pursue a relaxing activity. You can do anything then be it watching TV or listening to music. These are some of the tips that can alleviate your problem of lack of sleep and ensure good sleep when you go to bed. |
